Deconstruction No. 1

Deconstruction No. 1 is a piece written for Tenor Saxophone, Electric Guitar, Marimba, and Piano, one of the many instrumentations of HINGE Ensemble. The piece is an ambient exploration of how to use 12-tone inspired writing in a tonal way. Though inspired by serialism, the piece only very loosely holds on to that framework. This recording was done by HINGE Ensemble as part of a reading session for the East Carolina University New Music Initiative in spring of 2021. All parts were recorded separately and combined later to ensure social distancing during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
